India, Bangladesh to jointly produce biopic on Mujib, marking 50 years of friendship

<p style="line-height: 18.0pt; margin: 0cm 0cm 15.75pt 0cm;"><span style="color: black;">India and Bangladesh will jointly produce a biopic on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, marking his birth centenary and 50 years of the country’s independence, a move that will further cement bilateral ties between the two neighbours. The shooting of the movie was slated to begin in March last year but due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the plan got delayed. According to DD News, filming of the movie will now commence later this month in Mumbai. </span></p>
<p style="line-height: 18.0pt; margin: 0cm 0cm 15.75pt 0cm;"><span style="color: black;">The shooting is expected to conclude by April 10. </span></p>
<p style="line-height: 18.0pt; margin: 0cm 0cm 15.75pt 0cm;"><span style="color: black;">According to the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC), Bangladeshi film actor Arifin Shuvoo will play the role of Bangabandhu. Besides, actors Nusrat Imrose Tisha and Dighi will also be part of the film portraying the elder and younger versions of Fazilatunnesa Mujib, Bangabandhu's wife. Nusraat Faria will essay the role of a young Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh while Jannatul Sumaiya will play the elder Hasina.</span></p>
<p style="line-height: 18.0pt;"><span style="color: black;">The year 2020 was celebrated as 'Mujib Barsho' to commemorate his birth centenary. An admirer of Mahatma Gandhi and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Mujib, as he is endearingly referred to, is equally hailed as a reformist and a statesman in India, especially West Bengal.</span></p>
<p style="line-height: 18.0pt;"><span style="color: black;">Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Hasina, his Bangladeshi counterpart held the much awaited summit last month and promised to increase co-operation between each other. Experts said that the renewed thrust to bilateral relations will give a new dimension to ties between the two neighbours. </span></p>
<p style="line-height: 18.0pt;"><span style="color: black;">Modi, who has repeatedly underlined the need to focus on Neighbours’ First policy, is slated to participate in the celebrations marking Bangladesh’s independence on March 26 this year.</span></p>
<p style="line-height: 18.0pt;"><span style="color: black;">Bilateral activities including economic collaborations in various sectors between New Delhi and Dhaka are also expected to rise significantly in the coming months. India is keen to on moving “very quickly” on most outstanding issues including the thorny one of water sharing of six common rivers with Dhaka. Last month, India and Bangladesh resumed the Haldibari-Chilahati railway links connecting the two countries after 55 years.</span></p>
<p style="line-height: 18.0pt; margin: 0cm 0cm 15.75pt 0cm;"><span style="color: black;">Bangladesh foreign minister AK Abdul Momen recently in an interview said that relations between the two countries are set scale to attain new heights.</span></p>
