<strong>The women personnel of the para-military force, the Central Reserve Police Force, will now be inducted for the protection of the VVIPs in the country for the first time.</strong></p>
<p>
To equip them with this onerous task, a 10-week training of the first batch of 33 personnel will commence soon.</p>
<p>
The selected women personnel of CRPF will be trained in the use and firing of assault rifles like AK-47s.</p>
<p>
The women personnel were selected a few days ago, after the Union Home Ministry had granted its approval for the same.</p>
<p>
As per a report in news18.com, an official communication said that an action plan to increase the strength of women personnel has been submitted by the CRPF. The communication stated: &ldquo;Initially 6 platoons of women personnel will be raised.&rdquo;</p>
<p>
The women personnel will be deployed on &ldquo;need basis&rdquo;. Women personnel from the first batch will be posted with a few dignitaries. Further, women VVIPs will be given priority in view of the upcoming poll season.</p>
<p>
This central armed police force members, are already on duty protecting a large number of VVIPs, including the Home Minister Amit Shah, and top Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.</p>
<p>
It is said that the violence witnessed in the West Bengal elections is what prompted this move on the part of the Government and it was decided to induct women to protect VVIPs before the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections.</p>
