IMD forecasts three-day heat wave for Delhi-NCR

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted a three-day heat wave for Delhi and its adjoining areas from May 11 to 13 with the temperature ranging from 43 to 44 degrees Centigrade.

The maximum temperature in the region is expected to rise by 2 degrees Celsius to 4 degrees Celsius during the next three days after which a western disturbance is likely to bring down the temperature from May 13.

"A western disturbance is advancing. It will not give rain but will keep the temperature under control, particularly in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana. The situation in the Western Himalayan region will be better. Around May 18, another western disturbance is set to advance. So, the April type of situation will not be there in May," said RK Jenamani, a senior IMD scientist.

The national capital had recorded the second-hottest April in the last 27 years with the temperature soaring above 40 degrees Celsius.

Rajasthan we will continue to see temperatures of around 44-45 degrees Celsius.

However, the remaining parts of the country may not see any significant change in the maximum temperature during this period, IMD weather bulletin said.
