IIT Delhi launches helpline numbers for Afghan students

The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has launched helpline numbers for Afghan students

With the escalating tension in Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover following the withdrawal of United States forces, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has launched helpline numbers and created a special email id for their Afghan students to reach out.

This will enable the Afghan students enrolled to study in IIT-D to connect with the institution and help them return to the safety of the campus.

Through these helpline numbers IIT-D has expressed their concern and solidarity with their Afghan students in this hour of crisis.

The Director of the IIT Delhi, V. Ramgopal Rao in his tweet wrote: “In this hour of crisis, IIT Delhi stands in solidarity with our students and alumni from Afghanistan. We are doing everything possible to get the students to return to the campus. Let's give them hope.”

The helpline numbers for the Afghan students are: +91-011 26591713 and +91-9811091942 while the official email id is: intloff@admin.iitd.ac.in

Along with this, an announcement about the International PhD Fellowship Program was also made while encouraging Afghan students to apply for it.

IIT-Bombay had recently decided to allow their Afghan students to return to the hostel in the campus. These students had joined under scholarships from Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
