IAS officers slam Nitish govt move to free murder case convict

The IAS officers association has come out strongly against the move of the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government to release gangster-turned-politician Anand Mohan Singh, who was serving a life term in prison over the murder of a Dalit IAS officer.

“The Central IAS Association expresses its deep dismay at the decision of the State Government of Bihar to release the convicts of the brutal killing of Late Shri G Krishnaiah, IAS, former District Magistrate of Gopalganj, by a change in classification rules of prisoners,” the Central IAS Association said in a statement shared on Twitter.

“Such dilution leads to impunity, erosion of morale of public servants, undermines public order and makes a mockery of administration of justice,” the tweet read.

Anand Mohan Singh is already out on parole for the engagement of his son and Chief Minister  Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav attended the engagement ceremony on Monday and met Mohan who was present. The order to release him came on Monday as well, which Anand Mohan’s family has described as a ‘perfect gift’ from the administration. Anand Mohan spent little over 15 years in jail and will formally walk free in a day’s time, 29 years after the murder.
