The air-launched variant of the Brahmos missile is being incorporated in over 40 Sukhoi fighter jets to enhance the strike capability of the IAF.

BrahMos Aerospace, an India-Russian joint venture, produces supersonic cruise missiles that can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft, or land platforms. The missile has a speed of 2.8 Mach which is almost three times the speed of sound

The range of the advanced version of the missile has now been extended to 350 km from its initial 290 km.

The Indian Navy had successfully test-fired an advanced version of the Brahmos supersonic cruise missile from a stealth destroyer INS Chennai on March 5.
