Gadkari unveils 3 key highway projects worth Rs 2,900 crore in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone for three key National Highway projects at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh today.

These projects will cover a combined length of 87 kilometres and will be built at a total cost of Rs 2,900 crore.

The new projects include the Naidupate-Turpu Kanupur section of NH-71, spanning 35 Km which will be built with an investment of Rs 1,399 crore.

The second project is the Chillakuru Cross-Krishnapatnam Port South Gate section via Turpu Kanupur on NH-516W, covering a distance of 36 Km and valued at Rs 909 crore.

The third project will cover Thamminapatnam-Narikellapalle Section which will extend the Dedicated Port Road from Eupuru to Krishnapatnam Port on NH-516W and NH-67 covering a length of 16 Km with an investment of Rs 610 crore.

Gadkari said the projects aim to provide seamless and secure connectivity to Krishnapatnam Port, enabling faster accessibility to National Master Plan Nodes, Industrial Nodes, and SEZ at Nellore. Additionally, they will enhance the safety and convenience of devotees traveling to religious destinations such as the Shri Balaji Temple in Tirupati and the Shri Shiva Temple in Srikalahasti.

He explained that these projects will also bolster tourism by establishing connections to popular attractions like the Nelapatu Bird Sanctuary and SHAR at Sriharikota. The new highway projects are expected to generate substantial employment opportunities and spur economic growth in the state.

“Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi we remain fully committed to ensuring swift, seamless, and energy-efficient mobility across the entire nation,” Gadkari said at the inauguration ceremony.

The projects form part of PM Modi Gati Shakti national master plan for multi-modal connectivity under which various ministries including Railways, Highways and ports are working together to ensure integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects.

The multi-modal connectivity aims to provide integrated and seamless connectivity for movement of people, goods and services from one mode of transport to another. It will facilitate the last mile connectivity of infrastructure and also reduce travel time for people.
