Fugitive Khalistani Amritpal’s wife stopped from boarding flight to London at Amritsar airport

Fugitive Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh’s wife was stopped at the Amritsar airport  by the Punjab police as she was trying  board a flight to London on Thursday,  according to sources.

The development comes while a massive manhunt has been launched in the state to nab Amritpal, head of Waris Punjab Da, who has been on the run since March 8 when he escaped a Punjab police dragnet.

“Amritpal Singh’s wife Kirandeep Kaur has not been detained yet. She is being questioned by the Immigration department,” news agency ANI cited a Punjab Police source as saying.

Police are clinching closer to catch the radical preacher as they have succeeded in nabbing some of his close aides who were absconding along with him. Punjab police on Saturday arrested his close aide Joga Singh from Sirhind in the Fatehgarh Sahib district. Before that the police  had arrested Papalpreet Singh, 41,  who is considered a friend, philosopher and guide of the 30-year-old fugitive preacher.
