DUSU takes problems on Online Open Book exam to administration

While the second and third year students have started to adopt the online mode as the medium of classes and also examinations, a delegation of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) met the Dean (Examinations) to resolve technical errors which have emerged in recent results for the open book exam for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

The three-member DUSU panel led by president Akshit Dhaiya met Professor Vinay Gupta, Dean (Examinations) to resolve the technical errors.

"We requested the Dean to ensure that every student should appear for upcoming even semester exam and online attendance should not be taken into count as eligibility criteria for appearing in the upcoming odd semester examinations," DUSU said.

Speaking to IANS, DUSU President Akshit Dhaiya said, "Many students had expressed various issues regarding the Online Open Book Examinations including faults in record or being marked absent in some of the examination despite giving the same. Following this, we decided to meet the Dean (Examinations) and also give him a representation in order to resolve this issue."

"We have requested the administration to resolve technical glitches such as no record found etc because this time of the pandemic is a stressful time for the students because already they are locked up in their homes for months and if such things would happen, it would put them under unreasonable stress," he said.

Several media reports had cited that soon after the results of the Online Open Book Examinations were declared by the university, it had put students into trouble. Many students claimed that despite giving examinations and submitting answer sheets on time amid the pandemic, the results have marked the students 'absent' in various subjects, creating a panic situation..
