Delhi records hottest February day in two years

Delhi recorded its hottest day in February in two years on Sunday as the maximum temperature shot up to 31.5 degrees Celsius, seven notches above average, according to India Meteorological Department.

The minimum temperature settled at 11.4 degrees Celsius, normal for the season, it said.

The relative humidity varied between 50 per cent and 95 per cent.

The weather office had forecast maximum and minimum temperatures of 32 and 12 degrees Celsius, respectively for Monday.

At 6 pm, the 24-hour air quality index (AQI) in the national capital stood at 332, under the ‘very poor’ category.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 ‘severe’.
