Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal has submitted his resignation to President Ram Nath Kovind, sources said on Wednesday.
Baijal, who served as Delhi L-G for over five years, is reported to have resigned for personal reasons.
He is a 1969-batch IAS officer and took over as the Delhi L-G in December 2016 after Najeeb Jung quit the post.
He had been at loggerheads with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over several issues during his tenure.
Baijal had earlier served in Delhi as a former vice-chairman of the Delhi Development Authority. He also served as the home secretary in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led BJP government.
During the UPA regime, Baijal was transferred to the urban development ministry where he looked after implementing the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.
He also served as the chairman and managing director of Indian Airlines.
