Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “Biparjoy” over eastcentral Arabian Sea .
The very severe Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ in the Arabian Sea is set to intensify further in the next 36 hours and will be heading towards India’s western coast in the next two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its weather bulletin on Friday morning.
In the wake of the approaching cyclone the weather office has warned of rough seas with “Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph along and off Karnataka-Goa-Maharashtra coasts on 9th June.” Fishermen have been warned not to venture out.
“The very severe cyclonic storm was located over the Arabian Sea, 840-kilometres west-southwest of Goa and 870 km west-southwest of Mumbai at 11:30 pm on June 8,” IMD said.
“Very rough sea condition is likely to prevail over the adjoining areas of the south Arabian Sea and is likely to be rough along and off Karnataka-Goa- Maharashtra coasts for the next five days,” IMD has warned.
