Himachal Pradesh Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj yesterday instructed officials to create a street vendors' zone, besides setting up a grievances redressal committee in the state.

Bhardwaj, in a statement, said the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the state government headed by Chief Minister Jairam Thakur have initiated several schemes for the welfare of street vendors.
The minister said in order to provide a favorable atmosphere for identified street vendors, district level committees headed by District Magistrates will be formed to look into the grievances of street vendors and ensure that none of them are exploited.
He added the state-level grievances redressal committee has to be formed as per the Street Vending Act of 2014.
"Officials have been instructed to take necessary action to create street vending zones so that vendors could be benefitted by the welfare schemes implemented by the BJP government at the Centre as well as the state," Bhardwaj said..
