Veteran CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury lost his 34-year-old son due to Covid-19 today morning. A journalist, Ashish, passed away at Gurgaon&rsquo;s Medanta Hospital, where he was battling for two weeks with the infection.</p>

In a tweet message Yechury shared the sad news of demise of his son. &quot;It is with great sadness that I have to inform that I lost my elder son, Ashish Yechury, to COVID-19 this morning. I want to thank all those who gave us hope and who treated him – doctors, nurses, frontline health workers, sanitation workers and innumerable others who stood by us,&rdquo; wrote Yechury.</p>

Cutting across party lines, condolences poured in from leaders of political parties. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Ashish&rsquo;s death as &ldquo;tragic and untimely&rdquo;. In his tweet PM said: &ldquo;Condolences to Shri Sitaram Yechury Ji and his family on the tragic and untimely demise of his son, Ashish. Om Shanti.:</p>
