Night curfew will be clamped between 10 pm and 5 am in Delhi and schools, colleges, cinemas and gyms will be shut as part of the new restrictions that have come into force to contain the surge in Covid-19 cases.

The Delhi Metro will function at 50% capacity while malls and shops will open on an odd-even basis.

The restrictions are part of the ‘Yellow Alert’ that has been issued after the daily count of fresh Covid-19 cases touched 331 on Monday. This is the highest single-day increase in close to 7 months.

The positivity rate, which is the percentage of tests for Covid that turn out to be positive, was above 0.5 per cent for two days, which constitutes the trigger for a yellow alert.
