Coast Guard Chief S Paramesh calls on Navy Chief Admiral, deliberates on ICG’s operational readiness

Indian Coast Guard Chief Director General S Paramesh has called on Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi and deliberated on the Indian Coast Guard’s operational readiness and commitment towards coastal security, pollution response, search and rescue and capacity building.

The meeting held on Monday also discussed avenues for bolstering cooperation between the two services to address contemporary maritime challenges, ICG said in a post on X.

Meanwhile, the Coast Guard Commanders of Western and Eastern seaboards and all Regional Commanders called on DG S Paramesh at the Indian Coast Guard’s Headquarters in Delhi yesterday.

The Commanders apprised Paramesh of the preparedness level, operational readiness, and progress on major ongoing work projects, said the ICG.

On October 15, after assuming charge as the Indian Coast Guard Chief, Paramesh said that he intends to follow an inclusive approach for the overall growth and progression of the maritime force.

“I am honoured to take over as the Director General of the Indian Coast Guard. It is an honourous responsibility that I intend to discharge to the best of my abilities. I intend to follow an inclusive approach for the overall growth and progression of the ICG,” Paramesh had told reporters.

“The three key pillars with which I intend to progress the Coast Guard on all fronts are probity, transparency and objectivity. On the maritime arena, close collaboration and cooperation with the Indian Navy and the Marine Police will be a sine quo non for me to ensure that all assets of maritime security are well addressed,” he had added.

Paramesh has served the organisation in various capacities in ashore and afloat appointments with distinction over the past three decades.

The Flag Officer is an alumnus of the National Defence College, New Delhi and Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.

He has a professional history, studded with achievements and a proven track record of outstanding and meritorious performance in all assignments he has held.

The Flag Officer is specialised in Navigation and Direction and his sea commands include all major vessels of ICG which include Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel Samar and Offshore Patrol Vessel Vishwast.
