India’s daily count of fresh Covid cases shot up to 6,050 in the last 24 hours, which is 13 per cent higher than 5,335 cases reported yesterday, according to data compiled by the Union Health Ministry.
The single-day count for new cases has crossed the 6,000 mark for the first time since September 16 last year.

As many as 14 deaths were recorded in the country in the last 24 hours. The daily positivity rate, an indicator of the spread of the infection, currently stands at 3.39 per cent and the country’s active caseload has gone up to 25,587.
