Caught on Camera: Mason sets Mercedes car on fire due to dispute with owner

A mason has been arrested for setting a Mercedes car ablaze in Noida on the outskirts of Delhi after the incident was captured on a CCTV installed in the locality.

The CCTV footage shows the worker, wearing a helmet, standing next to a motorcycle. He waits for a while for people in the vicinity to leave and after having made sure no one is watching moves towards the car.

He then pours an inflammable liquid on the Mercedes car and sets it on fire. According to the police, the incident took place on Sunday.

The mason, identified as Ranveer, is reported to have acted in revenge after the Mercedes owner allegedly failed to pay him Rs 2 lakh as dues for installing tiles at his house in 2019-20. However, the owner has denied that he owed the mason any money.

Ranveer was arrested following a complaint filed by the Mercedes owner. An FIR has been registered and further investigation is going on, the police said.

The family has denied allegations that they did not pay Ranveer his dues and said he had given vent to his anger as they had replaced him with another mason to do the job two years ago. They also said they knew Ranveer for the past 10 years.
