Border Security Forces (BSF) personnel shot down another Pakistani drone carrying heroin at the Amritsar border in Punjab on Saturday night making it the fourth such drone to be intercepted in the last two days as Pakistan’s notorious ISI has stepped up the smuggling of narcotics into India.
“A drone from #Pakistan violated Indian Airspace & was intercepted (by fire) by #AlertBSF troops of #Amritsar Sector. During search, the drone & a bag of suspected narcotics has been recovered,” BSF said in a tweet.
BSF troops deployed in the depth area heard the buzzing sound of a suspected Pakistani drone at Dhanoe Kalan village in Amritsar district around 8.48 pm on Saturday, according to an official statement.
The troops immediately reacted to intercept the drone in accordance with the laid down drill and successfully downed the Pakistani drone loaded with contraband, the BSF statement explained.
The drone, a Quadcopter, DJI Matrice, 300 RTK, along with a consignment containing three packets of suspected narcotics was recovered from the agricultural fields in Dhanoe Kalan village.
The BSF said that four luminous strips were also attached to the consignment to make it easier for the contacts on the Indian side of the border to pick up the drugs.
The gross weight of the recovered consignment of suspected heroin is approximately 3.3 kg, the statement added.
Alert BSF troops have succeeded in foiling the attempts of Pakistan to pump more drugs into India as part of its nefarious narco-terror network.
