BJP alliance unveils 11-point vision document for Punjab with major thrust on development

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led three-party alliance for the Punjab polls unveiled an 11-point vision document for the state on Friday with a major thrust on development.</p>
<p>
The BJP, Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa led Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) jointly released the vision document in the presence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.</p>
<p>
Addressing newsmen Puri said, "Punjab is plagued by misgovernance, mafia, rampant corruption, and drugs. Our 11 resolutions aim to eliminate these evils."</p>
<p>
He said that Punjab was lagging behind in every field and now one felt ashamed that his home state was Punjab while other states of the country were progressing as was evident from the Budget presented by the Union Finance Minister.</p>
<p>
The vision document promised to open a medical and nursing college in each of the 13 parliamentary constituencies.  Each village and ward of a city will get a health clinic where free medicines will be available to the people.</p>
<p>
Quality education will be provided to all sections of society. A stipend of Rs 1000 will be paid to every girl student from matric to post-graduation. Credit cards with a deposit of Rs 5 lakh will be provided to every student going for higher studies besides free coaching to those wanting to appear in competitive examinations.</p>
<p>
A white paper will be brought out on the state for industries in Punjab and a relief package will be given for re-establishing a decaying industrial sector. A single window system will be set up to give approvals for setting up new units.</p>
<p>
All homeless have been promised pucca hamlets in the village on government land free of cost and clean drinking water through taps will be provided to all villages and cities. The assurance of a  pension of Rs 3000 per month has been included for the aged people and widows. Besides, the vision document promises the regularisation of temporary employees of the state government.</p>
<p>
The alliance also promised to bring in a strict law to deal with cases of sacrilege and fast-track courts to deal with cases of sacrilege. The police will be modernized to tackle the drug menace and women will be given 33 percent reservation in the police force.</p>
