Indian Railways is poised to launch a Vande Bharat Express between Bilaspur in Chattisgarh and Nagpur in Maharashtra on December 11. The train is likely to be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a senior official said.
The Bilaspur- Nagpur Vande Bharat Express will be operated by the Southeast Central Railways (SECR) and will have scheduled stops at Raipur, Durg and Gondia. The train will operate six days a week and will complete one leg of the journey in about five-and-a-half hours. Currently superfast trains take around seven hours to reach Nagpur.
This is the sixth semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express to be launched in the country.
The Vande Bharat Express can run up to a maximum speed of 160 kmph and has a much faster acceleration and deceleration than other trains. It is equipped with world-class passenger amenities. All coaches are equipped with automatic doors, GPS-based audio-visual passenger information system and on-board Wi-Fi.
