Bihar: NDA crosses majority mark, BJP single largest party

Signaling an easy win for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar, the ruling coalition is surging ahead of the Tejaswi Yadav-led Mahagathbandhan (MGB). While the early trends favored Mahagathnandhan, by noon NDA crossed the halfway mark, in which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got the highest numbers. Which paves the path for Nitish Kumar for becoming Chief Minister for the fourth time.

Of the 243 seats in the state, the BJP is leading in 73 seats and JDU in 47. The JDU contested 122 seats and BJP 121. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is leading in 67 seats, and the Congress in 20.

The trend is based on after 20 per cent of counted votes, in which NDA has got 37.96 per cent and MGB 36.19 per cent of the vote share.

The results are mostly from the counting of the postal ballots and EVMs simultaneously at 106,515 polling stations across the state

Unexpectedly, the communist parties are leading in 19 seats in the state. These seats are majorly around the Seemachal belt of the state. In all these seats, Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan has fielded its candidates against JD-U.

The magic number is 122 in the 243-seat Assembly. The JDU-led NDA and the RJD-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) are the main contenders.

There is a close fight on 38 seats with a difference of less than 1,000 votes. In some seats, the difference is less than 50 votes.
.
