Bangladeshi journalist and author Syed Badrul Ahsan’s India tour begins in Kolkata today

Eminent Bangladeshi journalist, columnist and author Syed Badrul Ahsan, who is on a week-long trip to India, will be holding a joint discussion with former minister and well-known author MJ Akbar in Kolkata today. After the joint discussion, he will hold an interactive session at the ITC Sonar Bangla Hotel with over 60 intellectuals and journalists.


Ahsan is a regular columnist for a number of Bangladeshi and Indian newspapers. Based in Dhaka, he is a noted commentator on South Asian affairs and the author of many acclaimed books.

Ahsan’s discussions in Kolkata and Delhi have been facilitated by news organisation India Narrative. On his India tour, Ahsan will discuss Indo-Bangla relations as well as contemporary global politics.

His itinerary includes:

On January 18, Ahsan will address students and faculty of Alia University in Kolkata along with the Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh and Counselor General of the US in Kolkata.

In Delhi on January 19, he will hold a discussion at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA). Strategic affairs analyst Nitin Gokhle will conduct an exclusive interview with Ahsan after the ICWA event.

On January 20, Ahsan will participate in a round-table conference at the Vivekananda International Foundation.

On January 21, the Mass Communication department of the Jamia Millia Islamia University will host an interactive session with Ahsan with the participation of students and journalists. Editor of India Narrative Atul Aneja will moderate the session.
