Bagga says, "more to come" after pasting pro-Taiwan posters outside China mission

In major embarrassment for China that has been engaged in a prolonged standoff with India in Ladakh, its embassy staff in New Delhi woke up to posters wishing Taiwan on its National Day pasted outside its mission.

What caused more heartburn for the embassy is that the posters were the handiwork of Tajinder Pal Sigh Bagga, a Delhi unit spokesperson of the BJP, the party in power at the Centre.

The posters were put up last night and were there even in the morning, prompting others like BJP's Kapil Mishra to congratulate Bagga for the same.

Incidentally, the mission, in a letter issued on October 7, had asked Indian media not to refer to Taiwan as a "country'' or "nation" or "Republic of China" or refer Tsai Ing-wen as President of Taiwan.

This act of defiance has made Taiwanese MP and Co-Chair of its Foreign Affairs Committee Wang Tin-yu thank Indians. He tweeted, "The people of Taiwan admire your spirit, your fearlessness and your determination to stand up for what is right.

It even made the Chinese government mouthpiece Global Times take strong objection to it. However, Bagga, who put those posters in the diplomatic enclave in Chanakyapuri outside the Chinese embassy, hit back hard at Global Times.

He tweeted, "When your President came to India last year, we greeted him with highest tradition of Atithi Devo Bhava. But your country backstabbed us in Ladakh. U broke Trust.U started playing with fire.U worsened relation. We have just started Paying Back with Interest. MORE TO COME…WAIT & WATCH.".
