Talking to IANS, Saket said: “I still don’t know if I would be able to work with this hand but, I will thank the police who searched for my chopped hand.”

This bizarre incident took place in Dolmau village, which comes under Sirmaur police station and is situated about 40 kilometres from district headquarters.

Saket, 45, a labourer belonging to Scheduled Caste had approached Ganesh Mishra for payment of his pending wages, which the latter was dilly dallying in paying, according to Assistant Superintendent of Police as per a PTI report.

Last week on Saturday when Saket along with another person met Mishra for payment, a heated argument ensued during which Mishra allegedly chopped Saket’s hand after which he tried to hide it, said the ASP.

After tracing the hand, the police took Saket to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital quickly where a team of six doctors joined it.

Dr Atul Singh, Chief Medical Officer of SGMH observed: “Patient is out of danger now. Surgery was done and the chopped hand was fixed but it will take at least one week to know whether the surgery is successful or not."

Meanwhile, the police have arrested Mishra and his brothers Ratnesh Mishra and Krishna Kumar Mishra under the appropriate sections of law.

On the Twitter of Rewa Commissioner it was mentioned that a sum of Rs.2 lakh approved by the State Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chauhan was handed over to the victim’s family to ensure the treatment is done free in the presence of Rewa Collector and SP.
