Air hostess jumps to death in Kolkata

A 27-year-old air hostess committed suicide on Saturday by jumping off the fourth floor of a building in Kolkata, Bengal.

The deceased, identified as Deborpiya Biswas, lived in the Metropolitan Co-Operative Housing Society under the Pragati Maidan police station area of the city.  She is reported to have been suffering from depression as she had been out of regular work for some time.

She jumped off the balcony and fell on the road in front of the building and sustained severe injuries. She was rushed to the SSKM Medical College and Hospital, where she died during treatment.

“During the inquiry, the victim’s family revealed that she was suffering from depression and mental problems as she had been out of regular work for the last two years,” a police officer said.

A case of unnatural death has been registered at Kolkata’s Pragati Maidan police station, he added.
