To make bus travel easy and comfortable, the newly-constructed Cuttack Netaji Bus Terminal at Khannagar will start functioning from September 16. It is expected to be inaugurated and dedicated to the people by Naveen Patnaik, State Chief Minister.
Talking about the terminal, Anil Kumar Samal, Chairman of Cuttack Development Authority said that its trial run has been done today and now it is ready for functioning and to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister.
Built at a cost of Rs.90.20 crore CNBT is spread over 14.95 acre land and the state-of-the-art terminal can accommodate 190 buses at a time. The terminal building is three-storey and has been built over two acres land and the facilities in it include eight private rooms, separate dormitories for male and female passengers and staff, infant care rooms, waiting lounges and commercial area.
There are five parking bus bays in the terminal which can accommodate parking of 117 buses, 72 idle buses and two emergency vehicle parking. Apart from this, there is a provision to park 370 public vehicles.
The bus terminal is equipped with all the required basic infrastructure like sewage treatment plant, rainwater harvesting, internal roads, plantation, toilets with a capacity of 122 closets and 91 urinals. Apart from these there is a solar panel system with a capacity of 40 KW, and drinking water units besides police outpost, 32 shops, CCTV surveillance and drainage system within the site boundaries.
There are 1,695 seats spread across the terminal building and bus bays for the passengers while the terminal has an Integrated Passenger Management System with three master display and 94 number of two-line displays which will keep the commuters up-to-date about their buses and their timings.
For the passengers, there is a state-of-the-art Aahaar Centre where food at a reasonable rate is available and which can accommodate around 1,000 people at a time. Apart from this there is a food court, ATMs and cloakroom.
