With Navy and IAF chipping in, oxygen bridge between India, France and Qatar works seamlessly

Covid relief continues to arrive in India from France via Qatar through the dedicated logistical bridge, better known as 'oxygen bridge' now, organised by the both governments and implemented with the Indian armed forces.

As part of the ongoing Covid relief Operation Samudra Setu II, INS Trikand arrived in Mumbai on Monday with Covid relief material from Qatar. INS Trikand brought two Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) containers of 20 MT each and 100 oxygen cylinders.

Coordinated by the Crisis and Support Centre of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and carried out by the Embassy of France in India, France's exceptional solidarity mission in support of the Indian people severely affected by the Covid-19 epidemic involves shipping medical equipment by air and sea freight via the Middle-East.

"France stands with India. Oxygen Bridge continues its active pace with 2nd rotation of oxygen supply. Supported by @airliquide & #Qatar, 80MT of O2 were delivered in total in Mumbai via @indiannavy’s #INSTrikand yesterday and #INSTarkash today," tweeted Emmanuel Lenain, the Ambassador of France to India, on Monday evening.

Even as the Indian Navy remains deployed to augment the critical medical stores in the nation's ongoing fight against Covid-19, the Indian Naval Ships Teg, Betwa, Subhadra, Makar, Tarasa and 07 ISVs, apart from naval helicopters and aircraft, relentlessly continue with their search and rescue efforts off the west coast of India in wake of the sinking of Barge P305 in ODA due to the havoc wreaked by cyclone Tauktae.

Yesterday, INS Jalashwa, embarked with 18 Cryogenic Oxygen Tanks and other critical Covid medical stores including 3650 oxygen cylinders and 39 ventilators from Brunei and Singapore, had arrived in Visakhapatnam. 15 of the 18 cryogenic tanks are filled with Liquid Medical Oxygen.

INS Trikand too had arrived at Mumbai on Sunday, bringing in two Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) containers of 20 MT each and 100 oxygen cylinders from Qatar.

The Covid relief materials are now being handed over to government agencies in various states and NGOs.
Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force has airlifted 1099 personnel and 117T load of disaster relief material since May 21 till Monday evening.
