The authorities have decided to impose a week-end curfew in Delhi and work from home for government offices to contain the surge in Covid cases driven by Omicron.</p>

The COVID-19 cases in Delhi continued to see a rising trend with 5,481 new infections reported in the last 24 hours pushing the positivity rate to 8.37 per cent, the highest in over seven months.</p>

Announcing the new curbs, Sisodia said most offices would have to make half their employees work from home.</p>

&quot;DDMA has decided to impose a curfew in Delhi on Saturdays and Sundays to curb the COVID surge. All government officials except for those engaged in essential services will work from home.&nbsp; As much 50% workforce of private offices will work from home,&quot; Sisodia told reporters.</p>

However, it has been decided to allow buses and the Delhi Metro to operate at full capacity as keeping 50% seats vacant was leading to long queues and crowding at bus stops and metro stations which posed a higher risk of spreading Covid infections, Delhi&rsquo;s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.</p>
