Vaccination cuts chances of being hospitalised for Covid by 80%, govt study shows

Studies among healthcare workers have shown that following Covid-19 vaccination, the chances of hospitalisation reduce by 75-80 per cent even after contracting the infection and oxygen requirement was required only in 8 per cent cases, the government said on Friday. The risk of ICU admission is only 6% in vaccinated persons, it said.

While the probability of getting Covid-19 after vaccination is reduced considerably as these vaccines are up to 85 to 90% , those who get the infection after the vaccination are mild cases and hospitalisation is not required in most cases, a senior official explained.

Overall the ferocious second Covid wave is receding as there has been an almost 85 per cent decline in the daily fresh cases since the highest reported peak on May 7, the government informed.
