Keeping in mind the limited and sparse health facilities in the Mulugu district interiors, the Telangana Health Department has started sending officials to the tribal areas. This will help the residents of the region, getting administered with the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine right at their doorstep.

The vaccination of the villages and tribal hamlets started this week itself from Tuesday.

Those who reside in the region include the Gothikoya tribal community who live in Gothikoyagudem, and the members of Korrachintalapadu community who are settled in Eturunagaram, Mulugu, Tadavi, Venkatapuram, and Koyaguda.

In all there are about 275 hamlets in these areas, which lack proper road connectivity and medical facilities.

There are 16 Government vaccination centres in the district according to the Medical and Health Department officials.

The officials stated that each day nearly 1,600 to 1,800 second doses are being administered. Talking to the New Indian Express, the Mulugu Deputy District Medical and Health Officer, Dr. M. Venkateshwara Rao disclosed that the campaign of administering the vaccine was successful in the district.

He said: “As tribal hamlets lack road connectivity and proper communication network, medical teams are identifying people who have taken the first dose of the vaccine in these areas, and visiting them at home to administer the second dose.”

While making door-to-door visits, the medical team also confirms other medical requirements too. Rao added that the teams were also checking for any Covid-19 symptoms in the beneficiary, and distributing medical kits.
