School in Ghaziabad shuts as 3 students test positive for COVID

<p>
A school in the Uttar Pradesh city of Ghaziabad on the outskirts of Delhi stopped regular classes after three students tested positive for Covid-19. The cases were reported at KR Mangalam World School, the second instance in recent days after two students tested positive at another school in Ghaziabad.</p>
<p>
The Principal has informed parents of the decision to shut the school for two days in light of the outbreak of infection. In the meantime, classes will be conducted online.</p>
<p>
It also called on parents to monitor their wards’ health and follow necessary Covid-19 protocols.</p>
<p>
“The school is also conducting deep sanitisation of entire campus and buses every day and following all Covid protocols,” the notice read.</p>
<p>
The Uttar Pradesh government ordered schools in the state to reopen for all classes on February 17. Offline classes for Class 9-12 students had already begun on February 7.</p>
<p>
Meanwhile, India reported 861 fresh COVID cases and six deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours with a daily case positivity rate of 0.32 per cent, according to data released by the Union Ministry of Health on Monday.</p>
<p>
The active cases in the country stand at 11,058 which accounts. </p>
<p>
As many as 2,71,211 COVID samples were tested on Sunday. The weekly positivity rate in India is 0.23 per cent.</p>
<p>
As far as the COVID vaccination is concerned under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, 2,44,870 doses of vaccine shots were administered on Sunday taking the total count past the 1.85 crore mark.</p>
