A 28-year-old man died of excessive bleeding in Andhra Pradesh after two pharmacy college students tried to carry out an intercourse reassignment surgery on him with the help of a YouTube video.

The illegal operation, involving elimination of the reproductive parts, was carried out in a room at a private hotel in Nellore on Thursday.  The victim who wanted to change his sex had got in touch with the accused on social media.

The culprits fled the spot after the victim died. The body was discovered in the room by the hotel staff who informed the police. A manhunt was launched for the accused and they were finally arrested, police said.

The police said the victim from Kamepally village died due to excessive bleeding and an overdose of medicines.

The deceased was a divorcee and had been in touch with a transgender from Visakhapatnam through social media. The two were in touch with the accused on WhatsApp.

The pharmacy students lured the victim by offering him to carry out the surgery at an affordable cost, according to the police.
