Over 35 crore Indians have now got at least one vaccine dose

India’s total COVID-19 vaccination coverage has shot past the 35 crore mark with more than 57.36 lakh doses being administered on Saturday, according to data compiled by the Health Ministry.</p>

There has been a sharp increase in the daily number of vaccinations being carried out after the launch of the free vaccines for all scheme on June 21.  As many as 28,33,691 vaccine doses were administered as first dose and 3,29,889 vaccine doses given as second dose in the age group 18-44 years on Saturday.</p>
<p>
A total of 9.94 crore persons in the age group 18-44 years across 37 States/UTs have received their first dose while over 27 lakh have received their second dose since the start of Phase-3 of the accelerated vaccination drive.</p>

Eight States namely Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka and Maharashtra have administered more than 50 lakh first dose of COVID- 9 Vaccine in the age group 18-44 years. Also, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Kerala, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Uttarakhand and West Bengal have vaccinated more than 10 lakh beneficiaries of the age group 18-44 years for the first dose of COVID vaccine, the Health Ministry figures show.</p>

<strong>Covid-19 cases fall to 97-day low</strong></p>
<p>
Meanwhile the decline India’s active caseload of COVID-19 cases continues with the total coming down to a 97-day low of 4,95,533 cases.</p>
<p>
As many as 57,477 patients recovered during the last 24 hours and the daily recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new cases for the 51st consecutive day.</p>
<p>
The weekly positivity rate is estimated at 2.5% while the daily positivity rate has fallen to 2.35%. Both figures have been below the WHO’s danger mark of 5% for 26 days in a row.</p>
