Now booking an ambulance in Bhubaneswar is only a click away

The Mo Ambulance app makes booking an ambulance easy and convenient in Bhubaneswar

During any health emergency, the first priority is to get an ambulance at the earliest! This is not easy task but in Odisha’s Capital, Bhubaneswar is now just one click away.

Dipti Sundar Mohanty, an entrepreneur along with his team of five members has created an application. Called “Mo Ambulance”, it streamlines the ambulance service, and makes booking an ambulance very easy.

The app which is android-based has several features. These include app-based booking to the destination, online tracking, pre-booking fare estimates and also alerts to destination hospitals, registered doctors and family members.

This innovation is awaiting patent. It uses IoT based tele-consultancy during the ‘Golden Hour’ – that is the shifting of the patient to the hospital in the first 60 minutes following either an injury or trauma. This period is deemed as crucial as the patient needs critical care.

A public health specialist, Mohanty said he made up his mind to launch this app when he realised how difficult it was for the people to avail of ambulance service for both Covid and non-Covid patients, during the two waves of Coronavirus pandemic.

Talking to New Indian Express Service Mohanty observed: “Ambulance service continues to remain one of the most neglected and unorganised health services where exorbitantly charges to transport a patient to hospital is a major concern.”

Making available a wide range of ambulance to suit one’s budget and needs, Mo Ambulance offers choices of advanced life support ambulance, basic life support ambulance, taxi as well as auto-rickshaw.

Mohanty added: “We also have plans to add bike ambulances especially for sample collection and delivery to make it more cost effective for the users.”

Launch on August 1 the application is under trial operations and has received over 90 bookings so far. Mohanty says there are plans to make the app available in all parts of Odisha.

There is an added feature in the app as it allows a person to book the ambulance on a toll free number, 1800-2572-115, in case one is unable to get access to the app.
