A new more contagious sub-variant of Covid&#39;s Omicron version has been detected in New Delhi, according to an official on Wednesday.</p>

The new sub-variant, which can break through vaccines, was detected in a report of 90 samples sent for genome sequencing.</p>

Dr Suresh Kumar, Medical Director of LNJP Hospital said that the new sub-variant, which has been identified as BA-2.75, has a higher transmissibility and infects people already having antibodies and also those who have inoculated with Covid vaccines.&rdquo;</p>
<p>
The detection of the new variant also comes at a time when Covid-19 cases have been on the rise in the national capital.</p>
<p>
The capital witnessed the highest positivity rate at 17.85% since January 21 on August 7. The total number of active Covid-19 cases in Delhi stands at around 7,484.</p>
