India’s COVID-19 cases double over previous week, Delhi-NCR leads

<p>
The number of COVID-19 cases in India have nearly doubled over the last week with Delhi-NCR recording the highest number of infections.</p>
<p>
The number of fresh coronavirus cases nationwide crossed 15,700 in the week from April 18 to 24 which is 95% higher than the preceding week. </p>
<p>
Coronavirus cases are now on the rise in 12 states compared to only three states that recorded an increase in the preceding week. Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Bengal and Punjab are amongst the new states to register a rise in COVID-19 cases.</p>
<p>
Delhi reported 1,083 fresh coronavirus cases on Sunday making it the third consecutive day on which the daily count has exceeded 1,000 infections. The positivity rate in the national capital was recorded at 4.48%.</p>
<p>
The active caseload in the city has gone up to 3,975 of which 2,812 patients are in home isolation.</p>
<p>
However, the number of patients requiring oxygen support is also on the rise.</p>
<p>
