India’s Covid case count falls to five-month low

<p style="font-weight: 400;">India on Monday reported a net reduction of 3,960 active Covid-19 cases to bring its total patient count down to 352,586, the lowest since July 17.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">According to the Union Health Ministry data, for the last 17 days in a row, the daily number of recoveries are outnumbering fresh cases of coronavirus infections. India on Sunday registered 27,071 new Covid-19 cases while 30,065 patients were reported to have recovered from the disease.</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">With a 1.3 billion population, India has the world's second-highest number of coronavirus cases, but the number of deaths is among the lowest in the world. The country is also seeing a continuous drop in the active number of cases.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The total recovered cases are nearing 94 lakhs (9,388,159) which stands 94.98 per cent.</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">The US, a country with only 331 million population (only one-fourth of india’s) <a href="https://indianarrative.com/latest-news/us-sets-new-record-in-single-day-covid-19-cases-40622.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">has registered the highest number of coronavirus cases worldwide</a> – 16.4 million and according to a BBC World report, recorded close to 3,00,00 deaths.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;"><a href="https://indianarrative.com/latest-news/brazils-covid-19-death-toll-tops-181000-40732.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Brazil has reported 6.91 million cases and 1,81, 419 deaths.</a></p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">“India reported one of the lowest cases per million population in the world (158) in the last 7 days; much lower than many other countries of the Western Hemisphere,” said the Health Ministry in a statement.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;"><a href="https://indianarrative.com/latest-news/global-covid-19-cases-top-72-2mn-johns-hopkins-41103.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">New cases reported per million population in the world in the past seven days was 553.</a> France reported 1,252 cases, Russia had 1,330, Brazil reported 1,387, the United Kingdom with 1,753, Italy had 1,934, and the USA reported 4,310 Covid-19 cases per million population during the same period, the Ministry further shared.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">When compared globally, India recorded one of the lowest new case fatalities per million population in the past seven days.</p>
