India yesterday registered a sharp drop in the number of new Covid-19 cases, the lowest count in about six weeks.
In the past 24-hours, India recorded  61,267 cases with 887 deaths. The total number of registered cases is 6,685,082 and the total number of death reported is 103,600, said Health Ministry in an official press release.
The total number of patients who got discharged from the hospital in the last 24 hours is 75,787.
The release also said that the active case stands less than 10 lakhs, “Presently the active cases comprise merely 13.75 per cent of the total positive cases of the country standing at 919,023. The declining trend of the percentage active cases is commensurately supported by the rising percentage of recovered cases.”
The total recovered cases stand at 5,662,490. The gap between recovered cases and active cases has crossed 47 lakh (4,743,467), the release said.
The recovery rate also improved to 84.7 per cent.
“74 per cent of the new recovered cases are from Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Delhi, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal,” the release said.
Maharashtra alone has contributed the maximum with nearly 13,000 single day recovery, it further added..
