How Co-win app will facilitate vaccination shots

Now, when the vaccine trials are completed and pharma companies have applied for emergency use of the vaccine. The government is further deciding who should get the vaccine in priority and afterward. Moreover, how will we identify who got the vaccine?

In order to facilitate the Covid-19 vaccination process that will get underway soon, the government has announced that it will be launching Co-win app as the go-to app for Covid-19 vaccine distribution.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said Co-Win is the digital platform for the Covid-19 vaccination delivery program. This mobile app records vaccine data and the process of forming a database of healthcare workers is at an advanced stage across all states and Union Territories.

Co-win app is distributed into five modules: Administration, registration, vaccination, beneficiary and acknowledgment module. As of now, registration is a paramount utility.

After registering with the Co-win app, the beneficiary will receive an SMS and the administration start preparing for the delivery and inoculation of the Covid vaccine. Administrators will conduct vaccination sessions and their records will be maintained in the administrative module. The beneficiary will receive a QE-based certificate which he/she can show to the authority when needed.

The government has already selected around 300 million people as the prioritized population groups for the Covid-19 vaccination program. Once these 300 million receive the vaccine, then generally people will start receiving the app. CoWin-20 app is not yet available for download on any platform. It is still under development. But the government aims to make it the digital arm of its Covid-19 vaccination program.
.
