The Central government has asked all its departments to promote a five-minute yoga break or 'Y-break' among employees in order to refresh, de-stress and refocus them for enhanced efficiency at the workplace, according to a personnel ministry order.
The Ministry of Ayush had designed and developed a five-minute yoga protocol termed Y-break, for the workplace by an expert committee in 2019 and the module was launched in January 2020 as a pilot project basis in six metro cities–Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
Since the feedback was very encouraging, the Ministry of Ayush developed an Android based application called Y-break and this has been made available in Google Play Store for access to the public, said the order issued to all central government departments.
In order to spread awareness about access and usage of Y-break protocol/app among workforce for all sectors (public/private), all ministries/departments of Government of India are requested to promote the usage of Y-break protocol among employees, it said.
