Delhi slaps fines for not wearing masks as COVID cases surge

<p>
Delhi on Friday reported 1,042 fresh Covid-19 cases with a positivity rate of 4.64 per cent while two persons died due to the infection.</p>
<p>
Delhi government has issued an official order that makes wearing of masks mandatory in public places with immediate effect and imposed a fine of Rs 500 for any violation of the norm.</p>
<p>
However, people travelling in private cars need not wear masks while driving.</p>
<p>
The Delhi government has also issued a set of COVID-19 guidelines for schools. Students and staff should not be allowed to enter school premises without thermal scanning, the</p>
<p>
Besides, parents have been advised to not send their children to school if they test positive for coronavirus and report the case immediately to the authorities. </p>
