Delhi records 9,197 fresh cases of COVID, 19% lower than yesterday

Delhi on Sunday recorded 9,197 fresh COVID-19 cases, which is 19 per cent lower than the 11,486 infections registered during the preceding day. The positivity rate has come down to 13.3% from 16.3% a day before.</p>
<p>
The national capital reported 35 deaths due to the pandemic in the last 24 hours.</p>
<p>
The daily count of fresh coronavirus cases in Delhi had touched a peak of 28,867 on January 13 and has started declining after that.</p>
<p>
The city had on Saturday recorded 45 deaths due to COVID-19, the highest since June 5, and 11,486 cases with a positivity rate of 16.36 per cent.</p>
<p>
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Friday had asserted that the danger of COVID-19 has subsided in the national capital and the situation is "quite under control".</p>
<p>
However, medical experts said there was still need for caution as the daily fatalities trend in the city needs to be kept under watch to see whether the death count has reached its peak.</p>
