Delhi lockdown extended by another week

<p>
<strong>The Delhi government on Saturday decided to extend the current lockdown by another week in the wake of the prevailing Covid-19 situation in the city.</strong></p>
<p>
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, "Lockdown in Delhi is being extended by one week."</p>
<p>
The lockdown in Delhi will now continue till 5 am on May 10 and the restrictions  that were announced in the previous order will continue.</p>
<p>
During the lockdown, only essential services like medicine shops, vegetable shops, groceries etc. will be allowed to function, but shop owners and customers will have to ensure social distancing.</p>
<p>
For over a fortnight, Delhi has seen a rapid rise in its Covid-19 cases, resulting in an acute shortage of hospital beds. The number of deaths have also risen.</p>
<p>
Earlier in the week, a body of 95 traders' associations in Delhi had urged Delhi L-G Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to extend the lockdown till May 15  in order to control the transmission of the deadly Covid-19 wave.</p>
<p>
<strong>Not allowed :</strong></p>
<p>
– All private establishments, shops, shopping centres, malls, weekly markets, restaurants/bars, coaching and educational institutes, gyms, sports complex, salons, beauty parlours, water parks, public parks shall remain closed during the curfew.</p>
<p>
– All social, political, academic, entertainment and religious festivals or gatherings are prohibited during the lockdown.</p>
<p>
<strong>Those who are exempted</strong></p>
<p>
-Government officials, including employees of public sector units. They will have to show their official IDs.</p>
<p>
– Employees working at Delhi government's essential service departments, such as police, prisons, civil defence, fire, medical services, sanitation, etc.</p>
<p>
– All judicial officers and staff members at all courts.</p>
<p>
– All private medical personnel, including doctors, nurses, paramedics, pharmaceutical lab employees, medical equipment suppliers, etc.</p>
<p>
– Pregnant women and patients for getting medical services along with an attendant. They will have to show a valid ID card and a doctor's prescription.</p>
<p>
-Persons going for the Covid-19 test or vaccination</p>
<p>
– Public transport is allowed but with restrictions. Delhi Metro and buses will be allowed to operate at 50 per cent capacity. Auto rickshaws and cabs can operate with maximum two passengers, while maxi cabs will be allowed to ferry up to five passengers. The RTVs will be allowed maximum 11 passengers at one time.</p>

-Persons going or coming from ISBTs, train stations and airports, on the production of a valid ticket.</p>
<p>

– Media personnel</p>
<p>
– Students going to exams and those deployed for exam duties.</p>
<p>
– There shall be no restriction on interstate travel.</p>
<p>
– Private employees working in the essential services sector</p>
<p>
-Courier services-</p>
<p>
-Self-employed electricians</p>
<p>
-Plumbers or water purifier repair personnel</p>
