Daily count of new Covid-19 cases in Delhi declines to two-month low of 956

The daily count of new Covid-19 cases in Delhi fell to 956 fresh on Saturday, which is the lowest in over two months while the positivity rate, that shows the number of cases that turn out to be positive for 100 people tested, declined 1.19 per cent, according to data released by the health department.</p>
<p>
The daily death toll due to coronavirus was recorded at 122 which takes to total number deaths due to the pandemic in Delhi to 24,073, the health department bulletin stated.</p>
<p>
This is the first time since March 22, when 888 Covid-19 infections were recorded, that daily cases in Delhi have fallen below 1,000. On Thursday, 1,072 COVID-19 cases and 117 deaths were recorded while the positivity rate was 1.53 per cent</p>

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said Delhi will start unlocking slowly from Monday as only 1,100 fresh cases of Covid-19 were reported on Friday with the positivity rate coming down to 1.5 per cent. Saturday’s figures have reinforced this improving trend.</p>
<p>
"This is the time to unlock lest people escape coronavirus only to die of hunger.  We have to follow a balanced approach of controlling coronavirus as well as reviving economic activity,” Kejriwal had said.</p>
<p>
He had announced a lockdown on April 19 after the daily count in new Covid-19 cases in the national capital had soared past the one lakh mark for fiveconsecutive days.</p>
