The daily count of fresh COVID-19 infections in India fell to 8,013 in the last 24 hours as the third wave of the pandemic recedes in the country, figures released by the Union Ministry of Health on Monday showed.

The country’s active COVID caseload has now come down to 1,02,601. The weekly positivity rate currently stands at 1.17 per cent, while the daily positivity rate is 1.11 per cent.

As many as 16,765 patients have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours while 119 deaths were also reported.

The Ministry further informed that with the administration of nearly 5 lakh COVID vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 177.50 crore as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
