The number of fresh Covid-19 cases in Delhi rose to a six-month high of 107 on Sunday amid growing fears over the new Omicron variant which has infected 22 people in the national capital.
The city also reported its first Covid related death in 10 days.
The case positivity rate of the national capital is now 0.17% which has gone up from 0.10 per cent on Wednesday.
There are currently 540 active COVID-19 patients in Delhi with 255 in home isolation.
Delhi has the second highest cases of the Omicron variant in the country next only to Maharashtra. The nationwide tally of the heavily mutated variant has now crossed 100.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) chief Dr Randeep Guleria has warned that in view of rising COVID-19 cases in the United Kingdom, India should prepare itself for any eventuality.
