The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi has issued an advisory for its staff to follow Covid-19 appropriate behaviour after four doctors and several other employees have tested positive for the infection.
“Must use surgical mask in the workplace. Ensure proper cleaning and frequent sanitation of the workplace, particularly of the frequently touched surfaces,” the AIIMS management said in an advisory on Wednesday.
The hospital staff has been advised to avoid gatherings of more than five people in areas such as the canteen and restrict the entry of visitors to the office complex.
Meanwhile, the number of fresh single-day Covid infections recorded in Delhi went up to a 7-month high of 1,149 cases. One death has also been registered over the last 24 hours.
The positivity rate in the city, which shows the number of confirmed coronavirus infections for every 100 persons tested, stands at a disturbing 23.8%.
The total number of active cases in the national capital has gone up to 3,347.
Though the admission rate in hospitals for Covid infections remains low, the number of people requiring medical attention has gone up sharply. Doctors have also advised that patients undergoing treatment at home must check their oxygen level as cases of low oxygen have been found after 4 to 5 days of the onset of the disease.
