AIIMS Chief says former PM Manmohan Singh’s condition stable

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has tested positive for Covid-19 and has been admitted to the Trauma Centre of Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).</p>
<p>
According to AIIMS sources, Singh was administered a Covid-19 test as he was running a fever, and was admitted at around 5 pm.</p>
<p>
AIIMS chief Dr Randeep Guleria said that the condition of former PM Manmohan Singh was stable. At the moment he is being closely monitored and does not require any oxygen.</p>
<p>
He had tested positive so he was moved to the hospital considering his age and co-morbidities in order to monitor him more closely, Dr Guleria added.</p>
<p>
Dr Singh, who on Saturday participated in a meeting with top Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, on the coronavirus situation in the country.</p>
<p>
He had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, with his advice on handling the coronavirus crisis.</p>
<p>
He had expressed the view that states should be allowed to define categories of frontline workers that need to be vaccinated against Covid on priority even if they are below 45 years of age.</p>
<p>
Asking the centre to place "enough vaccine orders in advance he had said the distribution of doses among states should be based on a "transparent formula.</p>
<p>
Mr Singh’s missive was seen largely as part of the Congress party’s political line which has been critical of the government.</p>
<p>
