48% of India’s adults have now got at least one dose of Covid vaccine

<p>
India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed the landmark of 45 crore with 43.9 lakh doses being administered in the last 24 hours, according to data compiled by the Health Ministry on Thursday morning.</p>
<p>
The latest numbers show that 48% of the country’s 94 crore adult population has now received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.  The new phase of free vaccines for all launched by the Centre from June 21 this year has seen a sharp acceleration in the inoculation drive.</p>
<p>
India has reported 43,509 daily new cases in the last 24 hours while 38,465 patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.</p>

Less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for the last 32 days continuously. India’s active caseload now stands at 4,03,840.</p>
<p>
With substantially ramped up testing capacity across the country, a total of 17,28,795 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country.</p>
<p>
While on one side testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, the Weekly Positivity Rate is currently at 2.38% and the Daily Positivity rate stands at 2.52% today. Daily Positivity rate has remained below the WHO’s benchmark 5% for 52 consecutive days now.</p>
